Hogwarts Series: Owl Post Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

CanadianRockies: I have learned that the placement of most of the caches in this series violate Calgary's Tree Protection Bylaw, so I will be removing them. Hopefully, we'll be able to find a new location for them.

Geocache Description:

Is your magic strong enough to open this Owl Post Letterbox?

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates. See below for information on how to locate the cache.

The Owl Post system uses owls to deliver letters, packages, newspapers, and other items.

Wizards can utilize Owl Post Offices or their own personal owls, such as Harry Potter's beloved Hedwig.

You have an opportunity to visit an Owl Post Letterbox. It's in plain sight, but muggles don't seem to pay much attention to it.

Start your journey by parking at the posted coordinates.

If the average Quidditch broomstick is 2 metres long, then you simply need to walk 110 broomstick lengths west along the fence line. When you respectfully pass the memorial, you'll know you're getting close. There's no need to cross any fences.

The letterbox isn't hard to spot. Hedwig certainly couldn't get inside, but it looks like some of his smaller friends might consider it home.

The tricky part is getting into the box. It requires lots of magic — perhaps two wands used together to cast an Alohomora Charm. If you don't have any wands, you can search for a pair at the site. Hints are available, below, if necessary. Please don't force the box open.

Once inside the letterbox, you'll find a logbook, a hollow book full of rubber stamps and ink, and trade items.

Letterboxers should use the perched owl signature stamp (attached to a string) to mark their personal logbooks.

Everyone (letterboxers and geocachers) should use a rubber stamp (their own or a provided one) to mark this cache's logbook. Then sign and date it, adding any comments you wish.

In addition to being a standalone cache, this is also part of the five-stage Hogwarts Series: Slytherin (GC27B5C) multi-cache. Look inside this letterbox's long lid for the padlock combination to the multi-cache.

From this same parking spot, you also can walk to the Hogwarts Series: Invisibility Cloak 2 (GC27B55) traditional cache and the first stage of the Hogwarts Series: Slytherin (GC27B5C) multi-cache. The suggested order is Invisibility Cloak 2, Owl Post, and Slytherin (Stage One).

This series was inspired by Hogwarts House Challenge (GC1ZRV6).

Congratulations to Team "Original 'Stache" (kophykupp, peanutbutterbreadandjam, Cdn Kitn, and missbug) for the shared FTF honours.
