Geocache Description:

Bring a picnic and your swimming gear to Chuck Dixon 4H Park for a day of geocaching and enjoying this little know park on Flathead Lake.

This 5 acre park is owned and maintained by Lake County, it is open dawn to dusk. It has a picnic shelter with tables, dock, bathrooms, water pump, volleyball and horseshoe pits. During the summer you can swim out to an island and rock outcrop nearby.

The parkland was deeded to Lake County in 1940.
The Lee's who gave it to Lake County specified in the deed that "the
premises should be perpetually held by the grantee herein as a camp
ground for use and benefit of the 4-H clubs and other similar
organizations and for the children and young people of Lake County."
The Lake County Park Board was established in 1996 and the board sought grants and acquired funds from Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks as well as Plum Creek Timber to develop the park.
The park was officially opened in 1998 and named after Chuck Dixon a longtime member of Polson Outdoors, sportsman organization and one of the original Lake County Park Board members.
The 4-H groups in Lake County through the Extension Service have done
cleanup projects at the park as well as the picnic tables being built
by Ronan High School Shop students.

This cache was placed with permission from the Lake County Commissioners on a one year trial basis. The FTF prize is a red carabiner.
