Geocache Description:

Access is from the Matahi Valley Road that heads to the Lions Hut Education Centre.
This cache is on the Te Pona-A-Pita walking track over to Te Waiiti stream - it is a 25-45 min climb up a well graded, marked and maintained track. Will need to be reasonably fit and probably not suitable for very small children.
Park either side of the road just after crossing Ogilvies bridge.

Coordinates are for a seat at the top of the climb.
From the seat you will see a multi trunked tree - look there!

After finding the cache you can carry on down to Te Waiiti stream for a swim (if summer) and look out for whio whio the native duck OR take the track off to the side marked with 2 orange and 1 yellow triangle. this track joins up with Otumatuna Ridge track and goes through the Restoration area where DOC have been reestablishing the kokako population. This loop will bring you back to the road about 2km from your car.
