This location reveals the history of the legend of The Black Stump.
There are many legends about the origins of the term The Black Stump. For locals here this is the true story. Barbara Blaine's fate was gruesome and unfortunate but has become a byword for out of the way places throughout Australia.
This memorial to her is out of most traveller's way, but a lovely detour.
Be aware that the road is unsealed from Gunbar and unsealed the last 7 km from Merriwagga. It is an offence to use the road when it is wet. If it has been raining, leave it a day or so.
The cache is a 500ml airtight container with log book, pen and swaps.
