Geocache Description:

Quick Cache and Dash in the car park of the lead mines. The cache is a micro cache longer but thinner than a 35mm film canister, it contains only a logbook so please bring your own pencil or pen. Please make sure you replace it carefully and exactly where you got it as it will be important for the next searcher. Enjoy in the knowledge that no muggles were hurt or injured in the placing of this cache.
I would advise that this cache is found during daylight hours so not to disturb the nocturnal animals that sometimes frequent the car park.

The cache is close to the Somme Centre. The centre examines Ireland's role in the 1st World War with special reference to the cross-community involvement in the 3 local volunteer Divisions: the 10th and 16th (Irish) Divisions and the 36th (Ulster) Division. Guided tours bring the visitor back in time to 1910 where they learn about the Home Rule Crisis, recruiting and training of men and life in the trenches. Reconstructed trenches of the Battle of the Somme in 1916.
