Geocache Description:

There are always certain hides that you really hate to see archived. It could be just an LPC but it could also hold special meaning to you personally. Perhaps it was one of your first finds or maybe it was a milestone cache or maybe it was just one of those special creative hides that make the game so interesting. Whenever I see a hide go to the big stump hole in the sky, it makes me a little sad. However at the same time, I see it as an opportunity. It means a prime location has just become available and those my friend are few and far between in this area. The Geocache Memorial Series of caches will be placed within .10 mile of an area where a prior cache has been hidden in the past and has since been archived. The intent of these caches are not to replicate the original hide, but rather to pay our respects to caches that have provided us with enjoyment as well as thanking the cache owner of that original hide. So, do you have a hide that is missing and you don't want to maintain it any longer? Do you have a hide that you just aren't proud you put your name on? Have you ever asked yourself WWRD (What Would Rhett Do) with this location? Instead of leaving that old hide on the board long after it has flown the coup, archive it and find out what I have up my sleeve. Just be sure my name is on the log before you do because, well, I have to find 'em all or I'm not happy.

This is the first in the Memorial series and is placed within .10 mile of where a cache named "Keeping Score - COTD" (GC11HDQ) used to reside. Keeping Score was born on 3/19/07 and then met with an untimely demise on 8/31/09. The cache was special to us because it was the 48th cache we had found, way back before we knew anyone cared about numbers. It was just about going out and having fun. Keeping Score was placed by BearOakDruid back then and he was a household name to us long before he knew we existed. I'm proud to say today that we can count him in the number of friends we have met while on this never ending adventure. Have a funny story about BearOakDruid? Post it in your log, I'd love to hear it.

Born today is the Bear Trap! What would you use for bait in a bear trap? A bison tube of course. But this trap isn't just for Bears, oh no. I suspect we will catch a wide variety of animals here. Hawks, Foxes, Eagles and many others. The best place to access this cache is via the trail near the playground. The coords may not be great, the tree cover prevented me from obtaining a good signal, for this reason, I've provided a hint to get you in the right area. If you get a good reading, feel free to post your coords in your log. You better be very careful when you retrieve the log, I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt. Bring your own writing stick and as always, use your own geocaching common sense at all times. Here's to you Steven! Thanks for the many hides and fueling our caching addiction!
