COOKWORTHY FOREST 8
LITTLE ROTTER
This is
series of sixteen caches set in the stunning Cookworthy Forest just
outside Holsworthy. The series is numbered but can be done is any
order and will take you into areas of the forest that not many
people visit. While researching and setting the series we have seen
wild dear, birds of prey and there was also a Border Terrier
following us at one point!
Dogs are
welcome and according to the Cookworthy forest website cycling is
permitted on all tracks. The complete circuit following the numbers
in order is about 11-12 miles on compressed gravel paths with a few
elevation changes (steep hills) in the northern forest. Hope you
enjoy the series!
Parking is
available at the main car park at N50º47.581
W004º14.818.
The
Forestry Commission has stated that these caches can only be done
during daylight hours as night caching is not allowed on Forestry
Commission property. Also as these are working forests there will
be forest thinning operations being carried out through the year,
although the forest will remain open to the public during this time
due care must be taken and all warning signs must be obeyed. Some
caches may not be available from time to time.
Special
thanks to the Forestry Commission for all their help and permission
to place these caches.
