Disclaimer: This is strictly a fun geocaching thing and not a political thing.
The Basic Idea: A "Flash Mob" Gathering of Geocachers. Only 15 minutes long! You MUST be present and sign a log sheet DURING this time to claim the event.
The World Wide Flash Mob Event: Dozens of events all around the world, coordinated to happen at the same time to bring together geocachers and introduce others to geocaching.
Come be part of this historic event!
The event will last EXACTLY 15 minutes, not one second longer.
The event will begin precisely at 10:00 AM on May 15, 2010. This is in an open public space. The schedule will be posted on here as well as at the event.
The Plan: Please come wearing a green t-shirt, tank top, shirt, or jacket.
Before 9:59 a.m. mosey about near GZ, but at least 100 feet away. Someone will be in the crowd handing out index cards. Use these for the “signing of the log”. Please look as natural as possible so as not to arouse suspicion. Parking available at the location.
At exactly 10:00 (as determined by the GPS clock) we will place a bucket at the coordinates. This is your signal to converge on the site! At this point, all geocachers will converge, seeming to come out of "nowhere".
10:00-10:05pm – “Sign” the log by dropping your card in the bucket and mingle. Once you arrive at GZ, place your card in the bucket. This is how we will determine who may log the event.
10:05-10:09 – We will “dance” to the song “Celebration” by Kool and the Gang. We will just free dance. I would really encourage everyone to participate to have the most impact. However the definition of dancing can be interpretive… if you can at least wiggle around and face the different directions that would be great! It’s only four minutes. Anyone can do that!
10:09-10:10 - We will draw our FTF door prize winner.
10:11-10:13 - Group photo. Time is of the essence so please get into a group where directed as soon as possible.
10:13-10:14 - We will eat our "meal" This will just be a small piece of candy in accordance with tradition.
10:14 - Get ready to leave and gather all your items. CITO please! The one minute call will be given.
10:15 - At precisely this time, the bucket will be taken away and the event area will be vacated without a trace! Please disperse all at once (immediately) at this time.
Only those participants whose names appear on the log sheets (bucket) may log the event.
Tell your friends and help promote the event!
I'm sure there will be several muggles nearby who will wonder "What did I just see? What just happened?" (That's part of the fun!) We will have some information sheets that folks can pass out if someone asks you what’s going on.
