Your GPS should lead you right to the monument along route 144, with parking available. Using information from this monument, you will decipher the latitude (longitude is provided) of the physical cache. To restore the populations of valuable wildlife, Governor Samuel Pennypacker authorized the establishment of "game preserves" in the state forests for the protection of deer, wild turkey, grouse, woodcock and other animals in 1905. On 2,000 acres in the Young Women's Creek Reserve in Clinton County -- the first forest lands purchased by the Commonwealth back in 1898 -- the Game Commission set up its first game preserve. 1905 - First State Game Refuge established in Clinton County about 12 miles south of Renovo on Sproul State Forest. Okay, on to the cache: Latitude: 41 13.GPS Longitude: 77 48.698 Where “GPS” stands for three numbers created in the following manner: Take the year that the refuge closed (1905 to ____) and exchange this date for the word “PIGS”. Now use the letters (and the corresponding numbers) to replace the values in the latitude .mmm with “GPS”. [Answer check – the digits should total 11.] Why “PIGS”? Did you notice the vandalism of all the road signs on the way to this site?
