Geocache Description:

This is another section of trails that follow the old Southern Pacific Rail line going South.

This is still part of the Rail Roadway that once traveled across the Sutterville area on a raised tressel system to avoid the flood prone area of early Sacramento.

This is a small remnant of the Old Southern Pacific Rail Road tracks once supported by a wooden trestle system that traveled from downtown Sacramento along the River south and across the often flooded areas of the Riverside District outside of the city proper of Sacramento.
Its hard to visualize the contour of the land as it now exists, parts filled-in and we take the overpasses and berms for granted but they were replacements for the once necessary wooden tressels inorder to have a way for commerce by railroad to pass through this area.

The area along the southern route of this Rail Road spur has become a recreational setting for those residents of the areas along its route. Check out the huge Oaks that are everywhere and don’t be surprised if you are challenged by a local flock of wild turkeys that use this natural area as their private highway.

PLEASE DON'T STOMP ON THE VEGETATION!!!

CAUTION – WATCH YOUR STEP AND WATCH YOUR HANDS.

AS ALWAYS BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR NASTY CREEPY CRAWLERS AND SLITHERIN'S.

Congratulations to Jimlips on his #99 FTF!
