Geocache Description:

A safe place for trackables looking to cross the border into the U.S.

This cache replaces the original A Safe Passage to U.S. TB Gateway (GC17B6X) which was archived in April, 2010. More than 80% of travel bugs and geocoins left in this cache successfully made it to the U.S.

Here is text from the original cache.

The Problem
There’s something elusive about getting a Travel Bug from Canada into the United States, their home or preferred destination. TBs that end up in Canada in error or because of an over-eager cacher often spend months and sometimes years travelling in a land their owners never intended for them. Well meaning players put TBs that need to cross the border into near-border caches (getting their owners very excited) only to see them, many times, grabbed (unknowing of the intention) and moved far away. TBs seem to travel very well up and down the 401 corridor here in Ontario but, whether it’s passport requirements, line-up delays or concerns over exceeding tobacco/alcohol limits, north-south travel is difficult.

The Solution
“Safe Passage to the U.S.” contains a bag meant exclusively for TBs that need to get to the U.S. Do not remove TBs from this bag unless your intention is to deposit them in a cache south of the border. It is placed conveniently near the intersection of the 1000 Islands International Bridge and Highway 401.
