Geocache Description:

This cache is no longer part of a series, it's now a stand alone cache. A small cache by St. Eadmer's Church, where walker's frequently park.

Sandra's dad was brought up at Bleasdale and worked for many years on the fells, the bench outside the church is dedicated to him. We also got married here in 2011. The church of St Eadmer, Bleasdale, serves the farms and hamlets that nestle below the higher ground bounded by Hazelhurst Fell, Fair Snape Fell and Parlick, at the western edge of the Forest of Bowland. The Church is the only one in England dedicated to this Saint whose origin is obscure. There is a possibility that the Parkinson family, who built the original church on the site in 1577, chose Eadmer because of their Northumbrian connections. (Eadmer was a monk whose vision led to the placing of the body of St. Cuthbert on a site which is now Durham Cathedral). The building we see today dates mainly from 1835, though it re-uses earlier decorated stonework and has newer additions. Be careful with dogs, especially during lambing season and nesting periods.
