Tarpon Triple Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

infosponge: This cache was my first experiment with a multi-cache setup and was a lot of fun to put together. I'm going to replace it sometime in February with a different set of clues and structure perhaps. Still working out the details.
Thanks to all who spent time finding it!

Geocache Description:

A multi-location cache requiring some math and clue gathering.

This is a multi-leg cache spread across three locations that requires gathering clues and some basic math to arrive at the cache location. This will take some time (at least an hour, I'm guessing) and require transportation to get from place to place. It is probably also possible to do this using a kayak (with excursions onto land at three locations) but I haven't tried it. All of the locations are family friendly, so you can make a 1/2 day of it by bringing your beach gear, and you'll see three of the recreational gems of the Tarpon Springs area.

(1.) Start at 28*10.531N 082*47.312W.
The sign refers to a number of centuries: [A] _ centuries.
How many fence posts are around the water source? _ posts.

(2.) Nearby is another informational sign about turtles.
What's the top speed of a leatherback? [C] _.8 mph.
The incubation period is about how long? [D] _ _ days.

(3.) To find your second location:
[Z] = (A + B) x 1238 = _ _ _ _
[Y] = (C x 75) + A + D + 2 = _ _ _
Fill in Z: 28*0 _ . _ _ _ N
Fill in Y: 082*47. _ _ _ W
check: Y+Z = 9105

(4.) From the second location, the date shown is:
November [E] _ _ , 1989.

(5.) Nearby are some vertical rainbows.
Walk over and count how many: [F] _ _ rainbows.

(6.) From here find a version of Stonehenge for Druids who are only a few inches tall.
How many blocks make up this monument (inside and out)? [G] _ _ blocks.

(7.) To find your third location:
[W] = (E + F) x 400 - 2 = _ _ _ _
[V] = (G + F - E) x 365 - 8 = _ _ _ _
Fill in W: 28*0 _ . _ _ _ N
Fill in V: 082*4 _ . _ _ _ W
check: W+V = 16855

(8.) From the third location, what's the speed limit?
[H] _ _ mph.

(9.) Continue to the bridge. What year was it built?
19 _ _.

(10.) At the north end of the parking lot is a survey marker.
It's GPS coordinates are:
[J] 28* _ _ . _ X X N
[K] 082* 4 _ . _ X X W
(for calculations, ignore the decimal point in J and K and treat them like a 3 or 2 digit whole number)
Note: because of some problems with step 10, here are the answers: J=093 and K=83. I'm going to re-work the cache to fix this soon, but in the meantime, take the freebie. :-)

(11.) At last! Now you can find the cache location!

= (J x 100) + (6 x G) + I - 66 = _ _ _ _
[Q] = (I x 100) + (15 x H) + K - 3 = _ _ _ _

Fill in P: 28*0 _ . _ _ _ N
Fill in Q: 082*4 _ . _ _ _ W
check: P+Q = 16677

The cache is a clear 2 quart flat tupperware container and should be fairly easy to find if you have the right location.

AS ALWAYS: BE AWARE OF FLORIDA WILDLIFE (i.e. snakes, gators, gopher tortoises, etc.) AND BE SAFE! POKE AROUND WITH A STICK, NOT YOUR HANDS!

Initial contents: Sticker packs, pokemon cards, old St. Augustine postcard pack, Topo USA 1.0 CD-ROM (Southeast), Pink beads, metal whistle, crayons, go fish card game, several hotwheels cars, army can openers, log book, geocache notice, pen, air, etc...

The cache is already kind of full. :-)
