Geocache Description:

This trail has much of what Wells Gray Country is famous for – lovely mixed forest with big trees, waterfalls, and volcanic rock covered in a great variety of mosses and lichens.
Time it right and you may get to feast on Saskatoons and Mountain Huckleberries

Don't follow driving directions. Cache is on east side of river. Turn off Highway 5 at Wells Gray Info Center and head north 4.4 km on Clearwater Valley Road. Park at lot with Wood Lot Licence 301 sign on the left. Head down steep marked trail. You could start with the steep side trail branching left at about 300 meters to 3D, but that’s another story (and cache).
Follow the Wells Gray Country River Trail marked with signs, blue paint and blue flagging tape for about a kilometer. The trail is good but steep with a 200m elevation loss and is not suitable for young children. When you come to the junction with the main Clearwater River Trail after ½ hour or so turn left and follow the trail to Candle Creek Falls. Take the obviously marked trail to the right after a couple hundred meters. Now is the time to put any children or pets on a leash. The VP is exposed.
After finding the cache and rejoining the main trail go just a little farther down for Candle Creek Falls with its spiffy new bridge. Head behind the falls on a hot day to cool off.
Contains log book, pen, pencil, survival bracelet, moose purse, lottery ticket, compass, carabiner, 2 Clearwater pins and a Canada pen.
