Pitmedden Forest, I am assured, is one of the darkest places
around Perth. Just the right place for a series of night cache
challenges!
The basic idea is that caching teams - at least two of you -
head off around the Forest at five minute intervals. On the way you
will encounter various tasks and challenges that just have to be
done in the dark, before finding the final prize. Keep your eyes -
and ears - open!
The start time is 8pm, when it won't be too dark for any scaredy
cats out there and will go on for as long as it takes! There is no
prize for being first, last or any point in between, so please
don't all turn up at once! It will cut down on noise and light
interference if we can keep the numbers down at the meeting point -
the co-ordinates are as listed for the event. A local hostelry will
be listed soon as a place to rendezvous with your team mates
beforehand and to share your stories afterwards. Extensive surveys
are presently underway in this regard!
The starting point is 20 minutes by car from the centre of
Perth. The forest paths here are in the main pretty good. There is
one stage that would be difficult for buggies or wheelchairs, but a
shortcut for this section can be provided. If you have any
questions about the terrain please let me know. The whole thing
should take less than an hour to do, unless you get caught by the
ghosts and ghoulies...!
If it is a bit busy when you turn up, don't despair, as
permanent night caches will be placed not too far away to
complement the existing caches in the area so there should be
plenty to occupy you while you wait your turn.
Equipment required - torch, sensible footwear, sense of humour
and a change of underwear just in case!
