Geocache Description:

A replacement for "Spring at Zombie Road" cache that is quick and easy to do along with the other caches in the area along Zombie Road, now called Rock Hollow Trail. This trail intersects Al Foster Trail between the Glencoe and Sherman Beach trailheads.where there is plenty of parking.

This requires a simple projection, starting at the spring and locating the nearby cache.

NOTE 1: Getting consistant readings in this dense area is almost impossible. If you come up with better numbers, let me know. That is why I did a projection from a fixed object (tree) with the distance and bearing to the final, instead of the spring coords.

NOTE 2: This area seems to be a "skeeter" magnet, so I suggest you use bug spray while hunting this cache. No snakes or PI was spotted though.

From Rock Hollow Trail you can follow a small dirt trail along the creek that leads to the spring. There you will find a nice clearing and a place to relax.

Count the TOTAL number of benches and MULTIPLY that by the TOTAL number of legs on ALL the benches. With that value, "X" multiply by 10 and that will give you "Z" or the distance in feet to the final.

IE 4 benches and 2 legs each gives you 4 * 8 for 32 and 32 * 10 gives you 320, or the value of "Z" in feet.

The final could be figured out using the armchair method, but you'll probably pass by the spring anyway, so do the easy way.

Once you have solved for "Z" (distance in feet), go to the large tree from where the water flows and take a bearing of 18 degrees magnetic for a distance of "Z", It's probably easier to use a hand held compass and walk off the distance than doing a projection with your GPS..

The final (just a short distance away) is a 5 x 5 x 2" Rubbermaid container with a few normal trinkets.

And now, "The rest of the story..."
For those that believe in ghosts, do a "Google" search on "Zombie Road" and read about Zombie Road or visit HERE and don't miss all the links at the bottom of his page.
And for the rest of us, enjoy your visit here and all the beautiful sights. Spring with all the wildflowers blooming is fantastic.

NOTICE: Please be respectful of the posted park hours. If you enter the park after hours you are trespassing. If you are stopped you can be ticketed or arrested and will put the future of geocaching in the parks in jeopardy

Special permission to hide caches in St. Louis County parks is NOT needed as long as the Groundspeak rules are followed. "Blanket Permission" has been worked out in advance with the park service. DO NOT CALL THE PARK as they cannot handle the calls. The Groundspeak cache reviewer does need to know exactly how and where the caches are hidden and what type of containers are used. The geocaching liaisons will notify the park service of new caches. Remember NO AMMO BOXES or PVC PIPE caches.
