(FI) Welhon kaivon purkki on kohtuullisen kookas (patruunalaatikko n. 3,2L) ja hyvien kulkuyhteyksien varrella, joten se toimii oikein mukavasti TB-hotellina.

(ENG) Wizard´s well cache is a large (about 3,2L) canister nearby the road, so the cache is wery suitable for TB-hotel.
(FI) 16.9. 2006 Rämsöön kylän tiejuhlissa avattiin Vammalan (nyk. Sastamala) ja Vesilahden rajalle Welhon kaivo. Kaivo syntyi tienparannustöiden aikana, kun maata kaivettaessa löytyi lähde. Kaivo sai nimensä hamasta historiasta ja sijaintipaikastaan Velhonkannonmaasta. Velhonkanto on toiminut rajapyykkinä jo ammoisista ajoista lähtien.
Tarina kertoo Velhonkannonmaan saaneen nimensä velhosta eli noidasta. Velho, hänen vaimonsa ja kaksi lastaan asuivat pientä pirttiä läänin rajalla. Perhe oli kovin köyhä ja hyljeksitty. Kerrotaan toisen lapsista syöneen nälkäänsä jopa lehmän jälkiä. Köyhä perhe sai elantonsa mm. varastelemalla. Noitumisen pelossa velhoa kuitenkin välteltiin ja pelättiin. Loppujen lopuksi kaikki lähitienoon tapahtuneet pahat pantiin velhon syyksi.
Viimein väki kyllästyi velhon kolttosiin ja velho haettiin mökistään erään suuren kiven luo ja tuomittiin kuolemaan. Tuomarina toimi kylänvanhin ja tuomion syyksi todettiin noituus. Tuomio pantiin täytäntöön välittömästi ja velho mestattiin kirveellä kiven lähellä sijaitsevan kannon päässä.
Velhosta päästiin eroon ja kylän asukkaat ainakin olettivat elonsa rauhoittuneen. Seudulla kerrotaan kuitenkin noitakeinojen käyttäjiä olleen myöhemminkin.
Tarina on yksi monista, eikä sen paikkansapitävyyttä voida todentaa. Tarina tuo kuitenkin paikalle ja kaivolle jännittävän lisänsä. Kuka tietää, mitä salaisia voimia on tuolla Welhon kaivosta nostetulla vedellä! Ota reilu ryyppi Welhon kaivosta, niin näet onko tarinassa mitään perää...

(ENG) The Wizard´s well was opened officially 16.9. 2006 at a party for the reconstructed road in Rämsöö village. The well is located at the border between Sastamala and Vesilahti. The name of the well is historical as well as the location in Velhonkannonmaa ("the land of the wizard's tree stump"). Velhonkanto has also been a landmark since the old days.
A tale tells that Velhonkannonmaa got its name from a wizard. This wizard and his two children lived in a small cottage nearby. The family was wery poor. The story tells that once one of the wizard´s children was so hungry that he ate cows' poo. Poor family, among other things, had to steal to get their daily bread. Being scared of the magic, people avoid the wizard´s family, and finally whatever bad happened, was his foult.
At the end people got bored of the wizard´s annoyance and the people in the village took the wizard to a big stone. The village's oldest man act as the judge and he doomed the wizard to death. The wizard´s head was immediately cut off with an axe. Execution performed on a stump of a tree nearby the stone.
So, people got rid of the wizard, and they considered that the life in the willage had calmed down. However, the tale tells that more witchcraft has later seen in the willage.
This tale is one of the many, and we'll never know if the story is true or not. After all, the tale brings some magic to the Wizard´s well. You can take a good sip of the water of the Wizard´s well and test if there is any magic...
