On your way to the cache enjoy the view of Buttertubs Marsh,
Nanaimo's coastal harbour, and a very busy intersection.
The harbour was first occupied by the Coast Salish people, who
are named Snuneymuxw in this region. Nanaimo was called Colevile
Town until 1860. The population consisted of several hundred people
and has grown to over 78,000 people today.
Please feel free to include historical facts about Nanaimo, when
logging your adventures.
This cache was named after it's necessary geocaching swag which
originally included; compasses, whistles, gloves, tweezers, band
aids, eyeglass repair kits, eye glasses cords, an emergency poncho,
and some toys.
This is our first cache hide, so please let us know how we
did.
