A quick micro in the valley between Bournes Green and Oakridge, in a slightly unusual container.
This cache is on a regular route of mine, it provides a good short cut between France Lynch & Oakridge. Popular pubs are available near either end. Easily approached from both ends with ample parking near Oakridge School or in Bournes Green. The cache takes it's name from the large house to the south, believed to be around 500 years old. The book 'Historical Records of Bisley' explains that the origins of the name are unknown but it was earlier known as Smarts Farm. It is also said to have been a tenement of Corpus Christi College. The terrain could be a challenge if you access from the wrong direction! with the path from the west being uneven from subsidence and it can become overgrown in the summer. The eastern approach becomes muddy during winter months or if the cows have been out. I would suggest that less agile cachers would be best to approach from the Oakridge side, on a dry day. Original contents were a log and pencil, the container is too small for swaps.
