Geocache Description:

Well, this type of cache has been on my mind for a while. I have the fortune of trying to shape the young minds of many different ages of students. I mainly teach in the Intermediate grades and one of my disciplines is Grade 8 Math. What the students need to know nowadays is, I believe, decidedly different from when I was in Grade 8. They are expected to know a lot of information in preparation for high school. I thought I would place an assortment of caches to see if the parents, grandparents etc., know what our students are learning. Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? Nonsense! Let's take it up a notch and really test your skills! Can you go through what our students experience day in and day out?
In order to complete this quiz, you will have to answer the exact questions I pose to my students on their tests, but you will have to do it in the wilds of Canada, without any prior teaching from me. Can you do it? Are you up for the challenge? I know, I know, you math phobic people are just shaking your heads now, wondering whether you will put yourselves through the agony just to find Tupperware! Yes, you will. The lure of the hunt and the hike will outweigh any of your apprehensions.
Here is how it works...
Your quiz will consist of questions at each cache. Work them out and use them to help find the final cache location. If you are not a math whiz, you can just find the caches in the series and not find the final.
I would recommend a calculator in your pocket for completion of this series.
When finished this cache, please do not place any answers in your logs, they will be deleted. Also, when you have completed this cache, I would love to know if you scored perfect by answering all questions and finding all caches in one test period. There are 13 questions in total. Give yourself a grade out of 13. For example, if you answered the first 6 questions correctly prior to having to ask for help, you scored 6/13, or 46%. If you do score as such, don't give up. Like I tell my students, I have confidence in your abilities and persistence; keep trying until the test is finished. Oh, and as always, I am here to help, just ask. One note however. As with my students, I will NOT give you the answer, but will help you think about a logical means to solving it. Please send me the question in its entirety, so that I may help you.

The caches aren't huge and vary in size and shape; so small items are placed within. The last cache coordinates are a little ways away from where you are hiking, so don't be alarmed. The final lies at a great place to rest, take in a view and even head out to a new area to hike!
By the way, as the teacher, I have decided to add one bonus question in the forest that I haven't taught the students. This is a question that is not in the curriculum, but an interesting one nonetheless.
When doing these caches, you will have quite a hike. You may want to pack a lunch to enjoy at a nice viewing area. Oh, and have good traction on your footwear!
Good luck, happy calculating!
At cache #1, write down your answer to help with your final calculation.
