Geocache Description:

A drive along the single track road which goes up Glen Artney to the parking at Glen Artney church.
This place is a lovely spot for a picnic beside the burn with some lovely small waterfalls.
There was an old wooden bridge here upstream of the road but it got washed away with the floods last year.

This cache has been placed for "Donalds where's yer Over-Troosers?" on June 19th 2010

Few people live in Glen Artney today and the area is a peaceful haven for walkers with a choice of walking routes and relatively few cars. The glen was once an ancient royal deer forest that supplied venison to the Sovereigns of Scotland at Holyrood, Dunfermline and Falkland. Steeped in history and natural beauty, it has been a favourite of many Scottish Royal Houses.

Sir Walter Scott immortalised the glen in his poem The Lady of the Lake:

"The stag at eve had his fill,
Where danced the moon on Monan's rill
And deep his midnight lair has made,
In lone Glenartney's hazel shade."

The cache is located on the downstream side of the road well away from the burn & high water mark.
