Geocache Description:


Welcome to Mirage Flats Country School geocache! Our school was in operation for 124 years. The 2009-2010 school year is our last year. This year in 1st through 8th grade there were 21 students.

On 19 May 2010, we had a class on geocaching and travel bugs led by University of Nebraska Lincoln Extension. We talked about how surveyors navigated through this area in the 1870’s and how we do it today using gps. Please be sure to read the copy of the surveyors notes for the line between sections 11 and 12, Township 29 North Range 46 West. They are circled in yellow in the surveyors.

Also, check out our travel bug, its number is TB3EGHY and its name is Mirage Flats Country School World Tour. Our travel bug is a picture of the last students that will ever go to our school. Our hope is that our travel bug will be able to travel around the world many times by the time our last class graduates high school in 2021. It started its journey on Wednesday 19 May 2010.

We treasure our school and are excited about leaving this cache for someone to find and remember our school.
