Myrtleville House was built by Irish settler Allen Good in the early 19th century. Myrtleville House Museum still stands in a spacious lot in Brantford, Ontario, and serves as a memoir of life during this time period. The traditional farmhome tells the tale of four generations of the Good family and their lives in Brant County as it expanded and grew through the remainder of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Myrtleville House Museum is operated by the city of Brantford and is open for tours throughout the year.
However, you don't have to do the tour to find this cache, although it's a great way to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon if you're into history.
What you DO need to do to find this cache: you need to find out some info about Alan Good and his family.
Info can be researched online, or you can go to Myrtleville House and do the tour. I don't feel that having to pay to do a tour should be a requirement to find a cache, so I am allowing for internet research to save y'all some $$; us college kids can't afford to spend any more than we already do!!
Info you need to determine:
a) The year Myrtleville House was built and furnished. Year = _ _ _ _ (sum should be 19)
b) The year that William Charles Good (Allen's son) formed the United Farmers of Ontario. Year = _ _ _ _ (sum should be 15)
c) The year that the Good family donated the house and property to Heritage Canada. Year = _ _ _ _(Sum should be 25)
What you need to figure out:
Co-ords for the cache: N 43 AA.AAA W 080 BB.BBB
AA.AAA = (answer to a) x 6 - 84 x 7
BB.BBB = (answer to b + answer to c) / 7 x ((answer to c - answer to b) / 2) + 42
Please assume decimals.
Cache should be fairly straight forward once you have the co-ords.
Please let me know if you find any mistakes in my math - it's been a few years since I took math!
