Order of the Wyrm Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

ernie66: Uncounted millennia have passed since the battles of Wyrmholes. The Reds and Greens have fallen silent and have not been seen by humankind in centuries. The land has seen scorching fire and torrential floods, but remains fertile and productive. Regrettably, the twinkling incandescence at the Altar of Tears has been swallowed by the pool, leaving no path to completion for your quest. For now, the Pyx has been retrieved for safekeeping while Icefyre and the rest of the Nexus Council retire to their chambers deep beneath the surface to begin the long process of rejuvenation. Until they return, may I suggest you seek out the treasure cached at GC45FZX by their cousins the water dragons?

Geocache Description:

This cache is not at the listed coordinates.
Complete Wyrmholes, then follow the instructions below to find the cache.

For millennia, the Red wyrm clans of Northing and the Green wyrm clans of Easting have lived in peace and harmony. Recently, Lord Wal-de-Mart corrupted the Green leadership and used their power against us Reds. You may have heard about the intense but stealthy battles of the Wyrmholes. Thanks to you and your kind, Lord Wal-de-Mart was defeated, the rightful King of the Greens has been restored to power, and peace once again pervades these lands.

Because of your heroism and cleverness in battle, the Red clans of the Nexus have elected you to peerage in our nation's highest fraternity, the Order of the Wyrm. Should you choose to accept this honor, complete just one more quest to gain your title and receive your insignia.

To begin, visit Glaurung in his throne room. Those participants who kept accurate and complete records of their progress in the battles of Wyrmholes know well the location of and how to approach the grand entrance to the Kingdom of Glaurung. Those who didn't may revisit the memorial site of the final battle of Wyrmholes to be redirected.

Glaurung will direct you to the penultimate stop on your quest - the ruins of the Altar of Tears. Before you embark on your journey to the Altar, confirm its location. Upon reaching the Altar, bow low, very low, and observe the twinkling incandescence dancing above the pool of tears left by generations of our ancestors. Open your mind and accept the challenge of the final leg of the quest.

Linger not, gentle human, for the air grows stale above the pool. Pray be careful not to allow yourself or your possessions to contact the waters; the liquid is caustic and the pool is bottomless.

Your final destination lies in the Valley of Boulders. Verify your solution to receive some final advisories on how to approach. Prepare for overland foot travel and a modest elevation change, but you will not encounter any dangerous terrain.

Locate the pyx - a holy vessel reserved for peers of the realm. Within, affix your signature or stamp and Common Era date to the official Roster of the Order and retrieve one Ellipse of the Red Dragon insignia. This is the symbol of membership in the Order of the Wyrm. Thenceforward, you will be properly addressed using the title Lyon or Lyoness preceding your given name.
