Geocache Description:

(Smuin, 2003, pp. 2-24) Its original name means “Barony in Ireland”; it is the station between Jellicoe & Jura on your way from Princeton to Osprey Lake.

It was officially a station along the KVR between May 30, 1915 & April 27, 1969 & the rails were finally installed about the middle of April 1915. It contained a Tool Shed, Bunk house & Section house. The station was located at KM 85.7

Along this section of track life remained uneventful - There is only one Point of Interest along the way that is detailed. However there were several Spur’s & there is a tunnel located at km 88.00 that is a 300 foot long timber-lined tunnel, commonly known as “Erris Tunnel,” this was excavated through unstable rock.

Point of Interest – Mileage 56.4 (Km 90.7) Approximate starting point for the third route revision west of Osprey Lake. The third proposed route for the Osprey Lake-Otter Summit line looped around the mountain from Christina Creek to Summers Creek, following the later to Mizzezula Lake.

The line then crossed Robert’s Pass and worked its way through the valleys of Otter Creek and West Fork of Otter Creek to reach Brookmere. This proposed route was about five miles shorter and had easier grades than the line via Princeton. This would have been the route had the KVR been unable to reach accommodation with the GNR and had Princeton residents been unsuccessful in their attempts to reroute the line into their town.

On note - the embankment you just walked/drove over or is ahead of you - is the same one this trestle used to be..
