Z1: Ulaovnen cave Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Makuta Teridax: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Due to lack of response from the owner, this cache is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,
Makuta Teridax

Geocache Description:

Ulaovnen Cave

Høyde i dråpefallet 1,4m, innerst i hulen 1m. Dybde 4m, br 2m.

Hvit 1,2 liter plastboks. Innhold: Loggbok, pen og cacheinfo. Opprinnelig byttegjenstander: Førstehjelpskit, sjongleringsballer, lekebil og armbånd.

Ulaovnen Cave
"Ulaovnen" is the popular name of this natural cave in the hill east of Robergkollen. This cave is protected by law and we ask that visitors merely take a look and not dig in it.

Description:
The steep hills on E side: cave with an entrance from the NE. The ceiling of the cave is irregular and severely weathered. The floor consists of black soil, mixed with small rubble. Soil layer seems to be more than 0.1 m thick. At the beginning of growing grass and ferns, stands outside of a birch. Height: 1.4 m, deep in the cave 1m. Depth: 4m, 2m wide.

Discovery Reference:
One summer day in 1959 found 14-year-old Day William Holmer from Skien a stone ax of local rock in the cave. The ax is from the Stone Age. It is not undertaken archaeological investigations in the cave. Submitted Vestfold County Museum, Tønsberg.
