The cache is near the second Kiosk along Guys Run Road. The first Kiosk is near the entrance to the road along state route 39 not far from the famous swinging bridge. It is marked as the Wildlife Management Area and has a seasonal access gate preventing vehicular traffic in non hunting seasons. It is a 4.5 mile hike from the entrance where you can park to the cache, the trail/road is gravel/dirt and well marked. Leashed dogs are welcome.
Guys Run is a creek that starts in the Goshen Wildlife Management Area and gains water through the multitude of streams and springs that empty into is as it meanders through the reserve before emptying into the Maury River in Goshen Pass. This wildlife reserve is open year round for hikers, and is used for hunting during the late summer/fall. It is one of the most pristine well marked areas for travel on the edge of the George Washington National Forest in Goshen.
Not far from the cache is a trail that leads up into an area known as Meadow Ground, a high altitude meadow that exists on top of Bratton and Ragged Mountains. This meadow contains a small pond and was once used for cattle farming in the early 1900s before being turned over to the state as a wildlife area.
Please do not wear camouflage during hunting season (Oct 30-Jan1).
Please put the cache back as found and cover as found. Please DO NOT cover with foliage.
Starting cache contains some dice and lizards for children, 6 of our signature geostones with business cards to be moved to other caches, a trackable coin, mardi-gras coin; and a bible verse from Scott who dragged us 11 miles uphill both ways and down the side of a mountain to shortcut through this place to find the Meadow Ground.
