Cache hidden at Høgåsen in Hurum, with a splendid view of the Drammen fjord at Hyggen.
Many a time I had stopped in the pleasant village of Hyggen on the shores of Drammensfjorden, eaten my matpakke lunch and looked longingly up at those hills to the north. But then a kjentmannspost popped up there, giving me an extra reason to explore them - and place this cache, finally bringing geocaching to this fine part of Hurum.
There are several hiking trails and viewpoints in this area. Parking coordinates point to Spikkestad ungdomsskole, north of the cache area.
This approcach will take you past a large quarry which is a source of substantial controversy in the area, as the mining of local granite is gradually eating into an attractive nature area.
Lots of droppings indicate that the King of the forest comes around frequently to admire the beautiful views from here.
The cache is an army standard food container, secured to a spruce tree with camouflage tools. Initial content includes moose droppings, a moose magnet, some highbrow CDs, an Oslo Freedom Forum pen, a pencil and a very elegant logbook.
