Geocache Description:

This is situated out side the castle wall and is the first of 3 caches that will take you around the lovely Pembroke Mill Pond. The terrain is a tarmac path and is wheelchair accessable. However you will need to leave the path to find this cache.
Cache is a small snap lid container with a couple of goodies inside to swap. A log and a pen are contained in it as well.

In 1093 the first Pembroke Castle was built. A fairly basic structure of timber palisades. Two sieges were successfully resisted and the strategic importance of the castle grew as Pembroke became the base for the Normans' campaigns in Ireland.
Eventually Pembroke Castle passed into the hands of a new Earl, Henry VI's half-brother Jasper Tewdwr. .During the Wars of the Roses Jasper's 15 year-old sister-in-law, Margaret, was sent to Pembroke Castle for her safety.
There she gave birth to a son Henry Tewdwr, who later defeated Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field to became the first monarch of the Tudor dynasty.Henry VII, although he spent his childhood at Pembroke, never returned to Wales as king.
