Another Beeline Highway grab and go.
CAK planted a cache near an old decrepit windmill, called Windmills
of the Past. This cache is placed near a functioning windmill on
the land between the northbound and southbound Highway 87.
After leaving Payson, you drive down a step section of highway
into Rye. The highway actually separates by a mile in this area.
Right before you get to the bottom is a small road on the lefthand
side, leading to a gate, and a corral with a windmill. The turnoff
is hard to see and comes up fast, so you will want to watch closely
(see waypoint).
Don't try the exit or entrance if traffic is heavy.
If the gate is open, pull through to the parking area. If not, park
there and hike through the fence, past the windmill, and up to the
cache.
The cache should be straighforward to find, although Mogollon Shift is always an issue in the rim
country.
