Shots rang
out on the streets of Hollywood last night as Jocko “The
Box” Castilliano was gunned down as he exited Ciro’s
nightclub. The alleged “button man” for businessman
Mickey Cohen was reportedly heading off to get Mickey’s car,
when an unknown assailant opened fire from an alley across the
street from the famed nightclub.
Mr. Cohen exited the building shortly after the incident. Rumors
are flying that the big man, himself, was the intended victim.
Mickey can thank his lucky stars that he has a penchant for chatty
cocktail waitresses.
Witness report that immediately after the shooting, a man was seen
running away from the scene of the crime. The man was described as
being clean shaven, less than 6 feet in height, and wearing a
jacket. Later that evening, a man fitting that description was seen
lurking around The Hollywood Bowl. Police Chief William H. Parker
has told officers to “Round Up the Usual Supects”.
