Located off main paved road on an abandon dirt road at a little over 4000ft. elevation. Cache is a American Bald Eagle 8" round tin.
This was a popular campground in it's day. Part of Upper Shake campground(which has my "Upper Shake Promise!" cache) looks to have have been closed longer than Upper Shake. There is a cement block restroom and maybe 6 campsites. The GZ is located a lttle over 1/4 mi. up the dirt road just past the wash and the campground is another 400ft. up the road. I hid the cache here because off the lack of hiding areas and the tree cover at the campground. There is a beautiful tree covered trail crossing the now running creek up to Upper Shake. If you havn't hiked this trail before, it is well worth your time! It is about 1-1 1/2 miles to Upper Shake and then you can continue to Sawmill fire road back down to Pine Canyon road(approx.5-6 mi loop) or return back down the trail to Lower Shake. Enjoy this beautiful forgotten area!
