Back in 1962 France launched a ship named Ancerville, which was purchased by the People’s Republic of China in 1973 and renamed Minghua. 10 years later the ship was permanently berthed at Shekou, Shenzhen, where she was refurbished and rebranded – this time as the hotel and entertainment complex, “Shekou Sea World“.
Since the Minghua was berthed at Sea World Plaza, the water which originally surrounded her has been reclaimed to allow construction of the golf course you can see here. The land reclamation continued southward, and today the coastline has been moved several hundred metres, leaving the Minghua completely landlocked.
The whole plaza now offers a vast array of international restaurants, cafes and bars. This place stands out for all the foreign customers that frequent the area.
Getting there: Bus no. J1 (express), 31, 77, K105, 204, K204, 226, 231, 232, 233, 331, 332, 355 or B602 all go directly to Sea World (海上世界).
Update November 19, 2010: Walls were built around much of the Minghua ship. As of this date, people can still go near the ship, despite the walls around it. Cache is outside the walls.
You are looking for a magnetic container in this most happening expat restaurant and bar scene in Shenzhen. Bring your own pen.
There will be constant muggle presence around GZ. Please be stealth in retrieving and returning the cache (to its original location).
