We hid this cache near our favorite campground to combine our enjoyment of camping, kayaking, and geocaching.
There is a fee to use the campground or the day-use area which has a boat ramp.
The cache is on an island on Dowdy Lake. You will need a canoe, kayak, or small boat to access the island. Swimming is not allowed and only wakeless boating is permitted due to the numerous rocks in the lake, some of which are submerged just below the surface. A canoe or kayak is recommended as the water approaching the island gets very shallow with many rocks.
Watch out for small cactus on the island.
While you are on the lake, see if you can find Darth Vader rock (named by our youngest, a Star Wars fan). It is sticking up out of the middle of the lake east of the island where the cache is located and is best viewed looking back to the west.
While in the area, I recommend also looking for the Getta' Gno-me multicache on Elf Road in nearby Red Feather Lakes Village.
You are looking for a camouflaged bison tube
