Komatsuji is named after a famous warrior Taira no Shigemori whose house was located in Komatsu Dani, Kyoto. He was the son of one of the 2 biggest Samurai families in the 12 Century. HIs bones are buried here.
My husband says his ancestors are connected to this family.

京都の小松谷にあった平清盛の長男・平重盛邸。「小松殿」と称されていました。
その重盛公（小松内大臣）が建立し、平安時代の仁安２年から戦国時代の天正年間の初めころまで存在した「小松寺」にちなんで、石川県小松市の地名があります。
なぜ、茨城の地に？？小松寺には平重盛のお墓がありました。。
治承4年（1180）平貞能は遺骨を抱いて、重盛の妻と共にこの地へ落ちのび
平氏滅亡後、平重盛の遺骨を裏山（白雲山）に埋葬したそうです。
