geek of some sort.

Nedward "Ned" Flanders He was
one of the first characters outside of the immediate Simpson family
to appear on the show, and has since been central to several
episodes. Flanders is a widower, having been married to the equally
religious Maude. They had two children together; the sheltered and
naive Rod and Todd. In the eleventh season, Maude dies an untimely
death in a freak accident involving a t-shirt cannon, leaving Ned
alone and grieving. While still married to Maude, Ned married who?,
while on a drunken bender in Las Vegas with
Homer.

Ralph Wiggum
He is best
known as the show's resident oddball, and has been immortalized for
his non sequiturs and erratic behavior. His lines range from
nonsensical, or bizarre interpretations of a current event, to

his behavior varies between blissfully unaware, to dim-witted, to
awkwardly spontaneous, even occasionally
straightforward. Ralph is the son of Chief Wiggum and his wife

Principal W. Seymour Skinner He is
the interim principal of Springfield Elementary School, and a
stereotypical educational bureaucrat. He struggles to control the
crumbling school and is constantly engaged in a battle against its
inadequate resources, apathetic and bitter teachers, and often
rowdy and unenthusiastic students, Bart Simpson being a standout
example. A strict disciplinarian, Skinner has an uptight,
militaristic attitude that stems from his years in the United
States Army as a Green Beret, which included service in the Vietnam
War, in which he was captured by the Viet Cong and was held as a
war prisoner for eighteen months.

Waylon Smithers,
Jr. He is the consummate executive and
personal assistant of Springfield Nuclear Power Plant's owner
Montgomery Burns. In many ways, Smithers represents the stereotype
of the closeted gay man, and numerous overt allusions and double
entendres concerning his homosexuality are made, though some of the
show's producers instead refer to him as a
"Burns-sexual".

Groundskeeper
Willie is the groundskeeper at Springfield
Elementary School and is an angry Scotsman. Willie is an uncouth
and unpleasant, though essentially harmless, character. He has
claimed to originate from several different places in Scotland, and
frequently gives contradictory accounts of his past life before
arriving in Springfield. Willie is portrayed as being incompetent,
quick to anger for little or no reason, and slow-witted. He has
shown great animosity towards both his employer Principal Skinner
and nemesis Bart Simpson. Despite his hatred toward Skinner, Willie
is shown at times to be fiercely devoted to his job. He is
regularly shown living in a shack on the school's property and
takes great pride in maintaining the school's "award winning"
landscape in many episodes.
