Geocache Description:

Final is not at above coordinates. Final: 38.2B.C9E 090.FG.HJ6.

Shaw Nature Reserve History Different areas of the reserve were home to families long before it became a part of the Missouri Botanical Garden. The Robert’s family farmed the area and evidence of a homestead can still be detected in the prairie. The family cemetery is on the grounds.

Starting at the Visitor Center parking lot you can walk to WP1 or drive.  If walking, I would suggest a clockwise direction on the Loop Rd.

Cache Information You must go to the three waypoints to answer the questions to garner the information for B, C, E, F, G, H, and J.

The Final is located at N 38. 2B.C9EW90.FG.HJ6

WP1 – N38.28.443, W. 090.48.777 – Bus stop.  What is a bus stop doing here? This was originally located near Allenton (along Hwy 50, later Hwy 66) and was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps for the Henry Shaw Garden Way. The bus stop was relocated to Shaw Arboretum Nature Reserve in 2002. Find the year the structure was built. The check sum of this number = F.

WP2 – N38.28.438, W 090.48.830 – Roberts Family Cemetery.  From the bus stop proceed to the cemetery of the Robert’s family. Little is known about this family. Other Roberts’ families in the area lived to the west and south and provided the names of roads and towns.  John Roberts was how old when he died? The check sum for his age = B, G, H.

WP3 – N 38.28.551, W 90.48.889 – Serpentine Wall. This wall was built in 1946 to be the Boxwood Garden when it was thought the Botanical Garden would move from downtown. It was never used but remains standing. It was based on a design by Thomas Jefferson. Take the height of the wall in feet for C, E and J.

The final is a medium lock box started with a Route 66 TB, a caching tool, a glass angel and a 150th Commemorative key fob. You will not need to go off any of the trails or roads in the area to reach any waypoints until you are at the final and it is only 7-8 feet from a roadway. Have fun and enjoy this beautiful site. Thank you to the staff for permission to hide this cache and to Glenn for keeping track.
