des évêques d'Agde, elle est mentionnée pour la 1ère fois en 1173
dans la confirmation des biens épiscopaux par Louis VII. L'édifice
roman primitif était formé d'une nef unique à 4 travées, voûtées en
berceau. L'abside semi-ciruclaire et couverte d'une voûte en
cul-de-four est éclairée par 3 baies ; elle présente à l'extérieur
des modillons sculptés. L'église a été agrandie au XVe siècle
(collatéraux et clocher porche). La porte au riche décor sculpté et
la tribune intérieure remontent aux XVIIe siècle. L'autel en marbre
polychrome est classé monument historique.
This
church belonged to the bishops of Agde and was mentioned for the
first time in 1173 by Louis VII in his confirmation of episcopal
belongings. The original Romanesque building contained a single
navec with four barrel-vaulted bays. The semi-circular apse with
rounded vaulting is lit by 3 bays : sculpted modillions are
visible on the exterior. The church was enlarge in the XVth cent
(aisles and porch belfry). The sumptuously sculpted door and the
interior gallery date from the XVIIth cen. The alter made of
polychrome marble is a listed historical object.
