Die Eckartsburg wurde
im 10.Jh. zum Schutz der „Via regia“ gegründet.
Kernburg,
Vorburg und Wohnturm (Palas) stammen aus dem 13.Jh. Im Burghof
erinnert eine
Bronzetafel daran, dass hier die letzten Schüsse der Schlacht bei
Auerstedt gefallen
sind.
Die Burg selbst steht auf einem Sporn von Unterem Muschelkalk. Im
Burggraben ist
etwa 30 m Unterer Muschelkalk im Bereich der beiden Terebratel -
Bänke aufgeschlossen.
Der Muschelkalk bildet hier markante Schichtrippen. Vom Bergfried
kann
der durch die Finnestörung entstandene Bergzug gut verfolgt werden.
Die Störungszone
streicht Nordwest – Südost und erstreckt sich über 150 km
fast durch das gesamte Thüringer Becken.
Ihr Nordostflügel ist meist auf die südwestlich angrenzende
Tiefscholle überschoben.
Im Burggraben an der Ostseite der Eckartsburg
sind die tektonischen Wirkungen der Finnestörung in
einem Hohlweg deutlich zu erkennen. |
The Castle
Eckartsburg was founded in 10th century to safe the road"Via
regia".
The core and the palas were built in the 13th century.
In the courtyard reminds a bronze plaque, that at this place the
last shots of the Battle from Auerstedt are given.
The castle itself was built on shellbearing limestone.
In the moat there are 30 meter shellbearing limestone in the area
of 2 terebrakels.
The limestone builted interesting layers here.
On the top of the castle you can see the hill made through this
disturbance.
This disturbance zone goes from northwest to southeast and is about
150 kilometers long nearly through the whole thuringan
becken.
At the eas of the castle down on the the moat you can see the
tectonic effects of this disturbance very good.
