This cache is placed on the grounds of the University of Iceland, at the Askja building. Askja, named after the volcanic system in central Iceland, houses the university's Institute of Earth Sciences.
I've spent the last year here studying volcanology and have many fond memories. It's nice to leave something behind for others to find.
Container is a 35mm film camister, translucent white/grey with a medium grey top.
Contents at time of placing:
- Logbook
- Card entitling you to two free coffees/teas at the Hama cafe in Askja building during opening hours
- 3 small Icelandic flag stickers
- A small baggie containing volcanic ash from the Eyjafjallajokull eruption, personally collected by me on 17th April 2010 from inside the restricted area during an expedition
The cache isn't illegal to get to, but it is hidden somewhere where muggles inside can see you. I suggest going at night when the building it empty.
Oh, and watch out for the ever-present geese (and their excrement!)...
