KendijsV: It's time to archive this cache. A lot of cachers have find it, and hopefully some of them now knows something about RAF factory and history. That was the idea fot cache - not the ruines of some building.

Ir pienacis laiks arhivet šo slepni. Daudzi slepnotaji ir atraduši to, un cerams, ka daži no tiem beidzot zin kaut ko jaunu par RAF rupnicu un vesturi. Tada ari bija slepna ideja - nejau šis ekas drupas.

[LAT]Slepnis ir small izmera konteineris. Pirmajiem mekletajiem lidzi janem rakstamais, jo to vel neesmu ielicis - esmu aizmarša :)
[ENG] Cache is small sized container. First finders should bring your own pen, because i did forget to put it it.

[LAT]Rigas Autobusu Fabrika (saisinati RAF) bija autobuves rupnica Latvija, kas ražoja mikroautobusus. No sakuma atradas Riga (1954-1975), pec tam uzbuveti jauni korpusi Jelgava, un rupnica tika parcelta uz turieni (1975-1998).
Viena no lielakajam mikroautobusu rupnicam bijušaja PSRS, tas produkcija tika eksporteta uz daudzam jaunattistibas valstim.


Vesture
1949. gada Rigas 2. autoremontrupnica tika izveidota autobusu virsbuvju rupnica, kuru 1955. gada parsauca par Rigas eksperimentala autobusu fabriku, saisinajuma — RAF.
Pirmais 22 vietigais autobuss RAF-251 tika izveidots uz kravas automašinas GAZ-51 bazes. 1957. gada priekš Jaunatnes un studentu festivala Maskava, tika izveidoti daži autobusi RAF-10 "Festivals", kuru konstrukcija bija radoša pirmo VW Transporter seriju adaptacija. 1958. gada 20. novembri RAF uzsaka šo autobusu serijveida ražošanu, bet nakamaja gada to partrauca.No 1958. gada fabrika saka ražot mikroautobusus RAF-977 "Latvija" (serijveida no 1959. gada), izveidotus ar viegla automašinas GAZ-21 "Volga" agregatiem. Turpmak tie tika piedavati specializetas, kravas pasažieru un kravas modifikacijas. Pirma vientonnigo kravas mikroautobusu partija RAF-977? tika izgatavota jau 1962. gada uz modernizeta mikroautobusa 977D bazes. Ierobežota RAF ražošanas jauda nelava sakt to serijveida ražošanu, un modeli nodeva Erevanas automašinu rupnicai.


RAF-977 "Latvija"
1975. gada Jelgava darbu uzsaka jauna fabrika, kur tika planots saražot 17 tukstošus mikroautobusus gada. Šeit saka ražot 11 vietigos mikroautobusus RAF-2203 "Latvija" ar GAZ-24 "Volga" agregatiem. Uz šis bazes tika izlaistas daudzas modifikacijas, bet somu kompanija "Tamro" izveidoja reanimacijas automašinu. 80. gados izveidoja ekskursiju autovilcienus uz RAF-2203 bazes, kas kurseja Mežaparka un Maskava.

Uz 90. gadu sakumu modelis RAF-2203 "Latvija" jau bija novecojis, un fabrika gatavoja jaunu modeli. Iesakuma tika piedavats sakt ražot jauno modeli RAF M1 Roksana, uzprojektetu sadarbiba ar anglu dizaina uznemumu "IAD". Bet talak par maketu, ši iecere netika. Tads pats liktenis gaidija ari nakošo projektu, priekšpiedzinas mikroautobusu RAF M2 Stils. Sakara ar PSRS sabrukumu fabrika nonaca gruta situacija. Produkcijas pieprasijums pamazam samazinajas, un 1997. gada rupniecibu apstadinaja pilniba. Pedejie RAF modeli bija 13 vietigie maršruta taksometri — RAF-22039 un automašina-katafalks zarku parvadašanai uz vientonnigas kravas automašinas RAF-3311 bazes. Liktena ironija, bet tieši zarku parvadatajs bija pedeja automašina fabrikas vesture. Rupnica partrauca savu darbu 1998. gada.

Pats slepnis ir novietots bijuša RAF Servisa „centra” kur vareja ari iegadaties rezerves dalas, ka ari aizvest uz servisu pats savu RAF’inu. Preteja ielas puse ta liela satrkana eka savulaik bija RAF galvena eka Riga, pirms bija paradijusies Jelgavas fileale. Tur vel atceros, kad mazs biju, staveja jaunie RAFi. Mazinš budams biju liels RAF fans. Man tik loti patika tie lielie, ertie kresli(tik pat ka divani drizak) un benzina smarža/smaka pec degvielas uzpildes, sežot aizmugurejos kreslos.
Braucot garam šai vietai pat palika skumji, ka vina ir plika bez nevienas kastes, tapec nolemu rikoties.

Rigas Autobusu Fabrika(Riga Auto-buss Factory in English) (abbreviated RAF) was a car factory in Latvia , which manufactured minivans. From the beginning it was in Riga (1954-1975), then built a new factory buildings in Jelgava , and the factory was moved there (1975-1998).
It was one of the biggest minivan factories in the former USSR, its production was exported for many developing countries.


History
In year 1949th at Rigas 2. Car factory bus body plant was made, which in 1955th. was renamed as „Rigas Eksperimentala autobusu fabrika”(in ENG - Riga experimental bus factory) – abbreviated RAF
The first 22-bedded double bus RAF-251 was created on a truck GAZ-51 base. In year 1957th for the Youth and Student Festival in Moscow, was established few buses RAF-10 "Festival", whose design was the first VW Transporter creative adaptation of the series. On 20th November year 1958th. RAF began mass production of these buses, but next year it was discontinued. From 1958th the factory began producing minivans RAF-977 "Latvia" (in series from the 1959th year), created by a passenger car GAZ-21 "Volga" units. Thereafter they were offered specialized as commercial passenger and cargo modification. First 1tonn cargo van lot RAF-977? was made in the 1962nd year on modified van 977D base. RAF limited production capacity did not start its mass production, and this model was forwarded to Yerevan car factory.
In year 1975th. Jelgava began work in the new factory, which was planned to produce 17 thousand minivans a year. Here began producing 11-bedded minivans RAF 2203 "Latvia" with the GAZ-24 "Volga" units. On this van basis there was released many variations, but the Finnish company „Tamro” formed resuscitation car. In 80th RAF manufactured tour trains on RAF-2203 basis, who traveled in Mezaparks and Moscow(????).
In the beginning of 90th Model RAF-2203 "Latvia" was already outdated, and the factory was preparing a new model. Initially it was proposed to begin producing the new model RAF M1 Roksana who was designed in English cooperation „IAD” but beyond the layout, this idea didn’t continue. The same fate was waiting the next project - front wheel drive RAF M2 Sils. Due to the collapse of the USSR, the factory came to a difficult situation. Product demand was gradually decreased, and in year 1997th. industry, stopped entirely. Last RAF models were 13-bedded taxis - RAF-22039 and the Van-hearse coffin of 1tonn truck RAF-3311 base. Irony of fate, but the coffin carrier was the last car in history of factory. The factory stopped its work in the 1998th year.
Cache itself is positioned in former RAF Service "center" where you could buy spare parts, and service your RAF van. On the opposite side of street, large red building once was the RAF main building in Riga, before the emergence of new factory in Jelgava. I still remember when I was little, there was brand new RAF vans. I was a huge fan or RAF vans. I liked those big, comfortable chairs (they was like sofa instead) and gasoline smell after refueling, sitting in the rear chairs. When i did drive by this place, it was so sad knowing that this interesting Building is without any cache, so i decided to act.
