A new chapter has begun at the Portage library. As of the first of June, the Portage branch of the Porter County Public Library has a new branch manager. The previous manager retired after many years of service to the library. This cache is also replacing the former "Shelve This" cache. So in honor of the new branch head and the new cache, I named this cache Chapter Two.
The cache is not located in the building nor is it in the same spot at the previous cache. Use caution as the muggle factor can be high at times. The library does offer free Wi-Fi if you need it.
Enjoy finding "Chapter Two" and if the cache needs attention or the coordinates are off, please let me know so I can fix the problem. Happy hunting!
There is a small FTF prize in the cache.
In 1970, the Portage Public Library opened in rental quarters in the Portage Mall and contained 2,200 volumes. In 1973, the Portage library, along with Valparaiso, South Haven and Kouts merged to form the Valparaiso-Porter County Public System. In 1990, Hebron joined the system. In 1980, Portage Public Library opened its door at the current location and contained 55,000 items. During the years of 1995-1996, the library was remodeled and re-opened in December 1996..
