Lou's Christmas in July Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

4bms: Checked on this cache today and it is in rough shape. Broken container, bad container seal, and branches towards bottom of tree are questionable at best. Removed. I thought this tree was completely dead years ago when this cache was hidden, the top 15-20' are very much alive. Enjoyed it's time, sorry to see it go.

Geocache Description:

Yet another cache in Lou's holiday series. He is a little mixed up though as he put the angel under the tree and the present in the tree.

You are looking for a lock & lock container that is in the tree depicted above. I did not use special equipment to place the cache but many may need it or not even attempt this cache.

NOTES:
1. The cache is between 50 and 55 feet off the ground.
2. There are few footholds in the first few feet of the tree and therefore you may need assistance getting to the branches (I did not).
3. Be very careful of dead and weak branches. Please keep 3 points of contact (2 feet and 1 hand, 2 hands and 1 foot) at all times while climbing.
4. Due to the number of branches it will likely be difficult to climb using ascenders but I am not a climber and could be very wrong.
5. The first to find is welcome to take any item they choose including the rope that is hanging near the cache. (I used it to measure the height and my release did not work as intended - my loss your gain). Please at least unhook the rope when up top.
6. The cache can be opened and contents accessed without removing it from the tether. In other words do not detach it and risk dropping it and having to climb down and back up.
7. Most of the contents inside the cache (including the logbook) are tethered to keep them from falling. There is a pen but I suggest bringing your own in case it is dropped, goes missing, or does not work (no signature means no find)
8. I ask that geocachers that do not perform the physical portion of the cache to not log this as a find but rather as a note.
9. Cache is located on State Game Lands so please wear the appropriate orange attire.
