Barkshed Recreation Area.
This cache is located in the Ozark National Forest and is authorized by the Forest Service with Registration #0810.
We placed this one in another favorite place of ours, Barkshed Recreation Area. This area can be reached in a number of ways, but the best will be off of Hiway 14 between the towns of Big Flat and Fifty Six. There are signs pointing the way. It is gravel the last part to the campground, but should be reachable with any type of vehicle.
Barkshed is a primitive camping area that is on the trail system that is between Allison and then to Blanchard Springs, then to Gunner Pool, then on to Cole Fork, which will then meet up with the Ozark Highlands Trail System.
The cache is across the old metal bridge off of the trail. The cache is not intended to be hard to find, but I placed it where it would not be muggled. The intent is to bring you to an area of beauty with a goal in mind. Bring the kids and enjoy the area with them and build memories. Cool off in the creek!
*****Congrats to Semipaw for the FTF*****
