A Walk in the Fogg Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

MainePublisher: All geocache placements must have a responsive owner. The cache owner must be able to respond to issues that come up and to submit an "owner maintenance" log to remove the "needs maintenance" icon.

In addition to the "needs maintenance" logs and DNF logs, Goundspeak also uses a Health Score algorithm. https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=713

In this case, Groundspeak has sent an email to the cache owner with no response. The cache owner did not respond to any of the cachers hoping to find the cache and did not respond to the reviewer note so the cache is now archived.

The cache location is now open for any Geocacher to place a new cache, including the original cache owner.

Geocache Description:

Three stage multi- cache.

Fogg Farm Conservation Area is a 15-acre triangular parcel of land located on the Fogg Rd in Readfield Maine. This is a lovely walk through a wooded area crossing a stream (tributaries of Tingley Brook) with moss covered rocky shores.

This is a loop trail going a total of about .40 miles. A short hike through some pretty spots and some geocaches to boot! This trail system was built with the help of the Maranacook Community School students and is owned by the Readfield Conservation/Kennebec Land Trust who has kindly given their permission for the placement of the geocaches herein located. This trail is named in memory of teacher David McPhedran (1957-2000) who was dedicated to youth and the outdoors. Mr McPhedran was killed in a tragic accident on Mt Washington.

Please stay on the marked trail. (NO BUSHWACKING PLEASE) The trail is marked with blue blocks painted on the trees. Our geocaches are no more than 10 feet off trail side. We ask that you please respect the landowners and the sensitive flora and fauna in this area by making as little an impact to the surrounding area as possible. Watch the trail carefully...this is not a well travled trail and in spots may be a bit hard to find but it is clearly marked if you look for the blue painted blocks. (Most of the time you can see the next block from the one you are at)

There are some moderate slopes between 5 % and 20 % so we placed the difficulty of terrain a 2. I have a hard time walking trails and this one didnt give me any trouble, but we wanted to make everyone aware of them.

This trail is open to walking, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. No motorized activities allowed (no dirtbikes, ATV's , snowmobiles), and please no campfires or overnight camping. Bring a blanket and picnic beside the stream if you like but be sure to carry all your trash out with you when you are done enjoying this lovely area.

Please park your cars on the side of the road where the trail head is located at 44. 24 .581/ 069. 57 .319 . The coordinates in this listing are for the first cache. There (in the log ) you will find the coordinates for the second cache and in that log book the coordinates for the third and final cache. There is one micro (dedicated to my brother Bob who loves micros in the woods) and 2 regular size caches in this multi stage cache.

Congratulations to tandemstoker for the FTF and the kind words about this cache.
