Pablo Mac & son Aliex first saw Lost Dog Rock from atop Green Peter and Bald Peter Mountains, a few miles to the south, about two years ago. Looking at the interesting shape of this little volcano cone made us think of placing a geocache here, and then when we researched the peak and discovered the name, we thought, "How could a rock named 'Lost Dog Rock' NOT have a geocache on it?" Today, Jaynes4Jesus, Aliex & Pablo Mac made the drive and hike to Lost Dog Rock, and placed an ammo can up there for you to find. We were tempted to post some parking coordinates, as there are various routes with and without gates to search out. We decided we had to figure that part of it out, so you can, too. As Aliex says in the video: "Come get some!"
Lost Dog Rock stands at 3327 feet above sea level. That represents about all we were able to discover about it. If you can share other info (especially how it got its name!), please share it in your log.
