Cruising Down The Creek Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Cach-n-Carry: Shutting this one down because we have replaced the cache with a different type of container. We figured that since the container changed and we are changing the D/T as well, that it is only fair to make a whole new cache. Thanks to all who found this one or tried to. Please come check on the new one that should post soon.

Geocache Description:

I had just placed the first installment of a series of caches that we are doing and I figured why not go down the trail a little more and drop off another one. So this is where I stopped and opened my bag of caches and pulled out this one.

This is a fun simple family friendly cache. It is big enough to hold a fair amount of swag (which we put some things in there to start it off) and of course TB's and Coins. There is also a small park near by that I never knew was there before (and I grew up here in Elmhurst) with some picnic benches and I do believe even a grill or two.

This has nothing to do with the cache, but as I was looking for a home for this cache, there was a father and son coming down the creek here in a canoe. Thinking to myself as today is fathers day (and my first fathers day as being a dad) it was nice to see that bonding going on till I heard the dad yelling at the son because he wasn't paying attention to what was all in the water that they were paddling over. I guess in that's case, getting older has meant that his hearing isn't as good as it used to be, because he informed the son that his is better and so it is his job to also listen for fast moving water that they are coming up to so that they can prepare for it. At first I felt bad for the son because it seemed as though he couldn't do anything right and that canoe is only so big and there was no getting away from the situation, but then I realized that the dad had a good point. I don't blame the dad for what he was all saying, though yes it could have been said in a better way, but what could happen was that they could tip over in the creek and I don't know about you, but there is no way that I would ever want to get caught swiming in that creek! It is NOT like it used to be years back, because I remember my dad telling us stories about how they would play and swim in that creek and also catch and eat the fish from it. Yeah those days are long gone now in my opinion, but it is still good to canoe in.

I hope that you enjoyed the story, now go out and get the cache!
