Geocache Description:

Nature and history in one trip!
Approximately 150 km East of Tehran and close to the city of Firuzkuh you find Tangeye Vashi (Vashi Gorge).

A nice walk through the ice-cold mountain river leads you to beautiful plains surrounded by mountains and poplar trees. The perfect picnic spot – as most locals also seem to think, so avoid the place on Fridays (unless you enjoy crowds, of course!). Bring good shoes or Wellingtons and clothes for changing, and yes, you may have to walk in water to the thighs, depending on the season!

Halfway through the gorge you see a big and fascinating relief cut in the rock on your right side. It depicts a hunt of the famous Qajar king of Iran in the beginning of the 19th century, Fath Ali Shah, who actually used to hunt in this area. You will recognize him as the hunter with the waist-long beard killing a deer with his spear.

After the gorge, you can stop and enjoy picnicking in the beautiful surroundings – or you can continue to the waterfalls further along the path.

The cache is hidden between two big rocks as seen on the photograph.
