One Tree Hill Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Antheia: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not responded to recent logs or logged in for some time I am archiving it.

The Geocache Maintenance guideline explains a CO's responsibility towards checking and maintaining the cache when problems are reported. Caches that have been archived for lack of maintenance will not be unarchived. This is explained in the Help Center.

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

A medium sized screw top, water-tight plastic beaker containing Log Book, Pencil & Sharpener along with treasures.

Important Information before attempting this cache:

Someone named ‘Martha & Family’ have placed an Unofficial Geocache (Dated 12th Feb 2012) in the large tree close to where this original cache is hidden. To make matters more confusing, Martha & Family have also called their cache ‘One Tree Hill’. I assume their cache may be listed on an alternative Geocaching website.

Our original ‘One Tree Hill’ cache is not, and never has been hidden in the large tree at top of the hill.

********************************

I can see this cache site from my front window. Oaker hill has many trees (Mainly Hawthorne) but there's a Sycamore tree standing far higher than the rest, hence the nick-name.

The walk to this cache can be made from many directions. My favorite is from Kirby Lane in Oaker.

Geo Parking is available just after Darley Bridge on Eversleigh Rise. Walk on to Kirby Lane (DE4) and proceed through the wooden gate marked 'Conservation Walks' (53.14952, -1.59836) taking the 'Oaker Hill Trail'. This walk is extremely steep in places but the views are worth it. Total distance to the cache is within 0.5 of a mile. A great walk for dogs but they must be kept on lead during trail.

**Caution** The walk to this cache will become extremely slippery in wet weather.

Once you've reached the largest Sycamore tree at the top of the hill, continue on east path for a short distance. Some sort of GPS will be required.
