Geocache Description:

Our first cache, a 300ml System A container with some "cammo" applied but you may wonder if the cammo is appropriate.....you'd never find this cache in an Italian Restaurant! Please make sure the cache is covered when you leave so it's not too easy for muggles to find!

We often used to come here with our dogs and you can park at S36 47.704 E 174 42.690 and enjoy a short walk to the cache.

The first in the "Pasta" series, like it's namesake, Macaroni Cheese should be easy enough for most people. The hint will give it away so only read it if you don't want any challenge!

Each cache in the series will have a pasta theme and have an appropriate recipe on the cache page. All recipe's are copyright of Pastamaker. Feel free to try them out and make them for your friends.

Pastamaker's One Pot Macaroni Cheese

Ingredients:-

A packet of your favourite dried macaroni
A nob of butter
A handfull a flour
A good splash of milk
A nice big dollop of grated cheese (any kind)
Half a chicken stock cube (optional)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method:-

Boil up a nice big pot of salted water and empty enough macaroni to feed as many people as you need. Boil uncovered for 5 to 8 minutes, depending on your brand of macaroni. Try a bit regularly and take off the heat and strain when it just becomes "al dente" (google that if necessary!)

Drop in the the nob of butter and stir it around till it melts. Chuck in the handfull of flour and stir some more. Add more flour if necessary until the pasta starts to get a bit gluggy! Now add a good splash of milk, just enough to make it nice and saucy! If you are using the chicken stock cube, now is the time to crumble it in. Try a little at first and see how you like it.

Now return to the heat and stir until the sauce starts to thicken. Remove from the heat at this point and stir in the grated cheese. If you are young and healthy then stir in lots of cheese. If you are older and your arteries are clogged, better keep the cheese to a minimum!

Serve into bowls and watch it disappear! If you like herbs, a little dried oregano or parsley will go well plus of course some freshly ground black pepper.

Enjoy, and the washing up will be easy as you only used one pot!

At time of planting cache contained:-

Logbook, pencil and gel in a snaplock bag
(Please leave these in the cache and don't eat the gel, in fact don't eat anything in the cache!!)

"P for Pastamaker" travel bug (our first)
Cute happy flower
Paua shell kiwi sillouette card
Cute plastic puppy
Pukeko Glass Ornament
Pandora Emblem
Pasta photo

Watch for the next in the series. The cache and the recipe will be a little harder but both will be more rewarding! By the end you'll be hand making ravioli for a dinner party of eight!
